The fields in south Texas are blooming with thousands of sunflowers. Planted in January, the harvest will begin in mid June. This gives Texas farmers an advantage of 3-4 months jump on the traditional growing season to the north.

Sunflower producers in the northern states had been having a hard time due to cooler weather, so they asked Texas farmers to lend a hand. The partnership is paying off and Texas will be enjoying their share of this $500 million industry.

Farmers in Texas love sunflowers, they are easy to grow and drought tolerant. Passerby’s love the fields of cheerful sunny yellow flowers.
